At Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025, Sucker Punch Productions unveiled exciting news for fans of their upcoming action-adventure title, Ghost of Yotei. The game, set to release on October 2, 2025, exclusively for PlayStation 5, will receive a free co-op multiplayer DLC, Ghost of Yotei Legends, in 2026. This announcement, accompanied by a stunning new story trailer titled “Song of Vengeance,” has sparked enthusiasm among fans of the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima and its beloved multiplayer mode, Legends.
According to a PlayStation Blog post by Andrew Goldfarb, Sucker Punch’s Senior Communications Manager, Ghost of Yotei Legends will offer a robust multiplayer experience. The DLC will feature a fantastical, supernatural setting that contrasts with the grounded, historical narrative of the main game. Players can expect two-player story missions and four-player survival matches, where they will choose from four distinct character classes to battle demonic, giant versions of the Yotei Six key antagonists from the single-player campaign alongside new enemy types.
The Legends mode in Ghost of Tsushima was a surprise hit, offering cooperative gameplay with story missions, survival challenges, and even competitive modes like Rivals. Its engaging mechanics, inspired by Japanese mythology, resonated with players, leading to its standalone release and even an upcoming anime adaptation. Ghost of Yotei Legends aims to build on this foundation, introducing fresh enemies and supernatural elements while retaining the core cooperative spirit that made the original so popular.

Ghost of Yōtei Legends is scheduled for release in 2026, though no specific date has been confirmed. Since Ghost of Tsushima: Legends launched three months after its base game, speculation points to a potential early 2026 release, possibly around January, if a similar timeline is followed. The mode will be available as a free DLC for all Ghost of Yōtei owners, requiring no additional purchase beyond the base game, which launches on October 2, 2025, exclusively for PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro. To access the mode, players will need an internet connection, a PlayStation Network account, and a PlayStation Plus subscription for online multiplayer, with age restrictions and terms of service applying.
