MAXSUN Unveils Terminator B850 BKB WiFi Motherboard, Reintroducing Back-Slot GPU Support on the AM5 Platform

MAXSUN has unveiled its latest innovation in motherboard design with the Terminator B850 BKB WiFi, specifically tailored for the AMD AM5 platform. This motherboard revives the back-slot GPU feature, allowing users with Ryzen 7000, 8000, or 9000 series CPUs to mount their graphics cards on the rear side of the board without relying on PCIe riser cables. Building on the success of their previous MS-Terminator B760 BKB D5 model for Intel users, MAXSUN aims to provide a more stable and efficient solution for vertical GPU installations, addressing common issues like signal instability from extension cables and GPU sag in compact builds.

The Terminator B850 BKB WiFi is built around the AMD B850 chipset and adopts a Mini-ITX form factor, making it ideal for small-form-factor PCs. It features a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot positioned directly on the back of the PCB, ensuring compatibility with upcoming high-performance GPUs such as AMD’s RX 9000 series and NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series. For memory support, it includes two DIMM slots capable of handling up to 96 GB of DDR5 RAM. Storage options are robust, with two M.2 slots—one on the front and one on the back—complemented by two SATA ports. Additional expansion comes via a PCIe x4 slot on the PCB. The rear I/O panel offers at least six USB ports, display outputs, three audio jacks, and likely a USB Type-C connector, along with integrated WiFi capabilities. However, specifics on VRM configuration, maximum RAM frequencies, WiFi version, and internal headers remain undisclosed at this time.

Key features of the motherboard emphasize space optimization and enhanced performance in tight enclosures. By mounting the GPU vertically and sideways on the back, it reduces the need for deep chassis space and improves cooling airflow while maintaining signal integrity without additional cables. This design is particularly suited for cases like the MasterBox iF15, enabling users to create compact yet powerful systems. MAXSUN has been teasing the product on social media for several days, but an official product page with full details is yet to be released on their website.

Regarding pricing and availability, no concrete information has been shared yet. Enthusiasts interested in this unique AM5 motherboard will need to watch for upcoming announcements from MAXSUN, as the company continues to build hype around its innovative approach to GPU placement in modern PC builds.
