It appears that 2K Games is preparing to make a significant announcement regarding the BioShock franchise in the near future. According to a report by MP1st, the publisher is gearing up for an announcement that could occur before the end of summer 2025. This announcement may involve a return to Rapture, the iconic underwater city from the original BioShock game, suggesting a possible remake or a new installment set in that location.
While 2K confirmed in 2019 that a new BioShock game was in development by its internal studio, Cloud Chamber, details have been scarce since then. However, recent reports indicate that development may be further along than previously thought, raising hopes for a potential release in the near future.

Speculation also surrounds the possibility of multiple announcements, including a remake of the original BioShock and updates on the upcoming BioShock 4. Fans are eagerly anticipating more information, which may be revealed during upcoming events such as the Xbox Games Showcase or Summer Game Fest.

Additionally, a Netflix film adaptation of BioShock is in development, with director Francis Lawrence recently completing a new draft of the screenplay. While the film’s production is ongoing, it is not expected to be the focus of the imminent announcement.
