The AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE, launched in China. This means that this graphics card model is not planned for release in the global market anytime soon. The RX 9070 GRE is based on the Navi 48 GPU and features 48 RDNA4 Compute Units, translating to 3,072 Stream Processors, which aligns with earlier leaks. It comes with a base clock speed of 2.22 GHz and a boost clock speed of 2.79 GHz. Officially, the RX 9070 GRE comes equipped with two 8-pin power connectors and has a Total Board Power (TBP) of 220 watts. AMD recommends a 650W power supply for the card. In contrast, the standard Radeon RX 9070 is expected to come with a higher number of stream processors, full memory specifications, and a broader 256-bit memory bus. It is likely to feature 16GB of GDDR6 memory, providing higher memory bandwidth ideal for more demanding tasks like 4K gaming. The memory speed is expected to match or slightly exceed 18 Gbps, with the card drawing around 250 watts of power. This version is intended for global release, aiming to serve a broader audience requiring top-end performance.

The main differences between the RX 9070 GRE and the RX 9070 revolve around memory size, memory bus width, power consumption, and target market. The GRE version offers a 12GB memory size and a 192-bit bus compared to the standard RX 9070’s 16GB memory and 256-bit bus. The GRE is more power-efficient at 220W, while the RX 9070 is slightly more power-hungry at around 250W. Performance-wise, the RX 9070 will offer higher performance due to its superior memory configuration and greater number of active cores.

The card is now listed for preorder at 4,399 RMB, which is almost the same as the RX 9070 non-XT’s launch price of 4,499 RMB. This strongly supports the rumors that the RX 9070 GRE is effectively replacing the standard RX 9070, at least in the Chinese market. Preorders are set to be fulfilled on May 8, which seems to confirm the release date.

Given that GRE models have generally been priced at MSRP, it’s reasonable to expect that this will also be the MSRP for the card. That said, we’ll likely hear more details about this card in the coming months.
