The newly revealed ASUS NUC 15 Performance aims to deliver a similar experience to the high-end ROG NUC, but with a few compromises to keep costs in check. The most notable difference lies in the GPU options: the NUC 15 Performance tops out at the GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, while the ROG variant can be configured with up to the RTX 5080.
Despite the trimmed-down graphics options, the NUC 15 Performance doesn’t cut corners when it comes to CPU power. Both systems can be equipped with up to the Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, a 24-core processor built on Intel’s latest architecture. There’s also a more budget-friendly option featuring the Core Ultra 7 255HX, a 20-core chip, paired with the GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU.

ASUS has yet to disclose full GPU specifications or TDP figures, but it has confirmed that the NUC 15 Performance will use the same compact 3-liter chassis as the ROG model. The internal cooling solution remains similar, and aside from lacking the ROG branding, the exterior design is nearly identical.
Connectivity options are also unchanged, and ASUS retains the user-friendly, toolless upgrade system. With just a single screw, users can access the M.2 SSD slots and standard SODIMM memory for easy upgrades.

This could be good news for budget-conscious enthusiasts, especially given the steep pricing of the ROG NUC line, which often exceeds $2000. However, the value proposition of these compact desktops remains debatable. Despite their smaller footprint, they’re heavier than laptops and similarly priced, potentially limiting their appeal.
ASUS has not yet announced availability or pricing for the NUC 15 Performance, but more details are expected soon.
