One of the standout features of the ROG Matrix RTX 5090 is its ability to draw up to 800W of power, significantly surpassing the standard 575-600W total graphics power (TGP) of other RTX 5090 models. This is made possible through dual power connectors: a standard 12V-2×6 connector and ASUS’s proprietary GC-HPWR (BTF) connector, which supports a cable-free design when paired with compatible ASUS BTF motherboards. When both connectors are utilized, the card unlocks its full 800W potential, offering a claimed 10% performance boost over reference RTX 5090 models. This makes it a dream for extreme overclockers looking to push the GPU to its limits.
The card’s premium PCB design further enhances its overclocking prowess. It features a 3-ounce copper layer, which improves heat dissipation and reduces voltage drops, ensuring stability during intense overclocking sessions.

The heat generated by its high power draw, the ROG Matrix RTX 5090 employs a cutting-edge quad-fan cooling system, a first for ASUS’s ROG lineup. This design, inspired by the ROG Astral series, features three front-facing fans and one rear fan in a push-pull configuration, increasing airflow and air pressure by up to 20% compared to traditional three-fan setups. The cooling solution is complemented by a patented vapor chamber with a milled heat spreader, liquid metal thermal compound, and a phase-change GPU thermal pad, all of which work together to lower GPU temperatures and enable higher boost clocks.
The card also includes densely packed heatsink fins, offering a 10% increase in surface area compared to the ROG Astral series, and a full copper vapor-chamber cover for optimal cooling of the GPU die and 32GB of GDDR7 memory. For enthusiasts using extreme cooling methods like liquid nitrogen, the Memory Defroster function prevents memory chips from freezing, reducing the risk of crashes during overclocking.

Powered by NVIDIA’s Blackwell architecture, the ROG Matrix RTX 5090 boasts 21,760 CUDA cores and 32GB of GDDR7 memory on a 512-bit bus. With a factory overclock of 323 MHz, the card achieves a boost clock of 2,730 MHz in OC mode, delivering top-tier performance for 4K gaming, AI workloads, and professional applications. The inclusion of NVIDIA’s DLSS 4 technology further enhances gaming performance with AI-driven upscaling and frame generation, making it ideal for the most demanding titles.
The card’s 3.8-slot design and robust die-cast metal shroud, frame, and backplate ensure durability and stability, protecting against PCB flex and micro-fractures.
The ROG Matrix RTX 5090 embraces ASUS’s iconic red and black color scheme, accented by an acrylic cutout with 3D “ASUS ROG” lettering and customizable Aura Sync RGB lighting. The card’s circular frame and indirect lighting along the top edge allow for seamless integration with other Aura Sync components, offering endless personalization options.
ASUS has not yet announced the release date or availability for the limited-edition card, with only 1,000 units to be produced.
