Colorful unveils its first AMD X870E motherboard, CVN X870E Ark Frozen

Colorful has officially launched its inaugural AMD X870E motherboard under the popular CVN series, dubbed the CVN X870E ARK FROZEN V14, marking a strategic expansion from the company’s previous higher-end iGame X870 Senna model. This new board is designed to appeal to a broader audience with its eye-catching white ATX form factor, emphasizing aesthetics alongside performance. The motherboard sports a pristine white PCB enveloped in Colorful’s signature Aries frost cooling armor, complemented by a full-size metal backplate that not only bolsters structural integrity but also enhances overall thermal dissipation for sustained high-load operations.

At the heart of the CVN X870E ARK FROZEN V14 lies a robust 16+2+1 phase VRM configuration powered by 80A DrMOS stages and supported by dual 8-pin EPS connectors, ensuring stable power delivery for demanding AMD Ryzen processors. It includes practical user-friendly features such as diagnostic LEDs for quick troubleshooting and a quick-release button on the primary PCIe slot to simplify GPU installations. Storage enthusiasts will appreciate the generous array of options: five M.2 slots comprising three PCIe 5.0 x4 interfaces for ultra-fast NVMe drives and two PCIe 4.0 x4 slots, alongside four SATA 6 Gb/s ports for traditional HDDs or SSDs. However, users should note that populating the second or third M.2 slot will bifurcate the main PCIe 5.0 x16 slot to x8 mode, a common trade-off in high-density designs.

Connectivity is another standout aspect, with the rear I/O panel offering two USB4 40 Gbps Type-C ports capable of 4K 60 Hz video output for versatile display setups, a suite of USB 3.2 and USB 2.0 ports for peripheral expansion, an HDMI 2.0 output, a 5 GbE LAN controller for wired networking, and integrated Wi-Fi 7 with Bluetooth 5.4 for cutting-edge wireless performance. On the front-panel side, it supports a high-speed 20 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C connector that can deliver up to 30 W of power delivery, ideal for modern case designs. The board is fully compatible with AMD’s AM5 socket, supporting Ryzen 7000, 8000, and 9000 series processors, and it accommodates up to 192 GB of DDR5 memory across its slots at overclocked speeds reaching 8200 MT/s, with compatibility for both AMD EXPO and Intel XMP profiles to maximize RAM potential.

While the CVN X870E ARK FROZEN V14 promises strong value in the mid-to-high-end segment, Colorful has yet to announce official pricing or global availability details, with current listings absent even on their own site and no confirmation of distribution beyond China. This launch underscores Colorful’s growing footprint in the AMD ecosystem, building on the X870 chipset’s enhancements for PCIe 5.0 and USB4 to deliver a balanced, feature-rich platform for gamers, creators, and enthusiasts alike.
