The game is Set in the vast and dangerous continent of Pywel, Crimson Desert places players in the role of Kliff, a mercenary leader navigating conflicts between rival factions while uncovering hidden powers and facing formidable enemies. Before diving into the results, we’ve also covered a dedicated performance analysis of Crimson Desert on the RTX 2060 in a separate article, focusing on 1080p optimized settings and detailed FPS insights. For this test, We tested Crimson Desert across twelve different graphics cards, using custom optimized graphics settings to achieve the best balance between visual fidelity and performance. Each GPU was evaluated with two recommended configurations, providing guidance for selecting the ideal setup based on your hardware. For the majority of tests, we prioritized DLSS DLAA and FSR Native AA rather than heavy reliance on upscaling. In our experience, the current implementation of DLSS and FSR in Crimson Desert often compromises image sharpness and clarity. Native anti-aliasing methods deliver cleaner visuals and more consistent image quality, albeit with a modest performance trade-off, ensuring a more polished and immersive gaming experience. Testing System

Our primary test platform was built around the ASRock X670E PG Lightning motherboard, paired with the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D running at 5.2GHz. The system was equipped with 32GB of Corsair DDR5 memory clocked at 6200MHz, along with a Samsung 850 EVO 1TB for storage. Power was supplied by the XPG Core Reactor II 1200W 80 Plus Gold PSU, ensuring stable performance during intensive benchmarking.

Our secondary test platform utilized the GIGABYTE Z790 Gaming X AX DDR5 motherboard, combined with the Intel Core i5-12400F processor. This system featured 32GB of G.SKILL Trident Z5 DDR5 memory at 6000MHz, paired with the XPG 1TB GAMMIX S70 Blade for high-speed storage. It was powered by the XPG Pylon 650W 80 Plus Bronze PSU, providing a balanced and reliable setup for comparative testing.

Performance Observations and Issues

During testing, Crimson Desert exhibited noticeable FPS drops in demanding areas, particularly within dense castle environments where scene complexity is significantly higher. For instance, the RX 9060 XT showed a decline from around 60 FPS to the mid 40s under heavy load. Weather effects, especially rain, also had a measurable impact on overall performance.

We also observed shadow quality inconsistencies in indoor scenes, most notably on the RX 6600, where shadows occasionally appeared broken or rendered at extremely low quality. Enabling Ray Reconstruction demonstrated improvements in shadow rendering, as seen on the RTX 5070, though this feature requires higher-end hardware to maintain stable performance. Additionally, certain areas of the game still suffer from inconsistent frame pacing, indicating ongoing optimization challenges.

RX 580 GPU Fail to Launch Game
