ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN Unveils The Forsaken Hollows DLC, Releasing on 4th December 2025

Elden Ring Nightreign, the highly anticipated co-op action survival spin-off from FromSoftware, has officially revealed its first major expansion, The Forsaken Hollows DLC, in a surprise announcement that has thrilled fans of the original game’s punishing yet rewarding world-building. Set to launch on December 4, 2025, the DLC will be available digitally for $15 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC, requiring ownership of the base Elden Ring Nightreign game to access its content. This expansion builds on the core gameplay loop of Nightreign, where up to three players embark on intense three-day expeditions across the vast open map of Limveld, surviving overwhelming threats and culminating in epic battles against Nightlords, now enhanced with fresh challenges and environmental twists that deepen the survival horror elements.

At the heart of The Forsaken Hollows are two new playable characters known as Nightfarers, each bringing unique abilities and playstyles to the cooperative fray. The Scholar is an erudite wanderer of the Lands Between, boasting exceptional arcane prowess and the ability to gain battlefield advantages through keen observation, manifesting as spellcasting from an ancient tome paired with agile fencing maneuvers for mid-range combat. Complementing this is the Undertaker, a formidable abbess sworn to eradicate the Nightlord, wielding immense strength and faith to dispatch foes with ruthless efficiency using a heavy mace in agile, close-quarters assaults that evoke a grim reaper’s final judgment. These additions expand the roster of customizable Tarnished survivors, allowing for more diverse team compositions in the game’s roguelike expeditions.

The DLC introduces a host of formidable new bosses to torment players in Limveld’s shadowed depths, including the return of a fan-favorite from Dark Souls lore: Knight Artorias the Abysswalker, reimagined with his signature greatsword and chaotic, acrobatic attacks that demand precise dodging and punish the overzealous. Accompanying him are two additional third-day climax bosses, unnamed in the reveal but teased as nightmarish entities tied to the expansion’s theme of forsaken ruins, alongside new field bosses scattered throughout the map for opportunistic ambushes. These encounters are amplified by a brand-new Shifting Earth event called The Great Hollow, transforming a massive cavity in Limveld’s underbelly into a labyrinth of exotic ancient ruins, crumbling temples, towering sacred spires marking a lost civilization, and insidious crystals that emit a cursed, life-draining miasma, forcing adaptive strategies amid dynamic environmental hazards. Furthermore, select legacy bosses from the base game receive remixed effects, blending familiarity with fresh peril to keep veterans on their toes.

Beyond combat, The Forsaken Hollows enriches Nightreign’s ecosystem with additional Nightlord variants and procedural map alterations that heighten the expedition’s tension, while tying into recent base game updates like enhanced Everdark Sovereign fights and the grueling Deep of Night mode for those seeking maximum difficulty. Pre-purchasing the DLC before December 3 grants exclusive bonuses, including a digital artbook and mini soundtrack featuring concept art and thematic tracks from the expansion—content mirroring the Deluxe Edition’s offerings and available immediately upon acquisition. Notably, the previously released Deluxe Upgrade Pack will be rebranded as The Forsaken Hollows starting November 12, 2025, with owners receiving seamless access to avoid duplicates; the expansion is also bundled in the Collectors and Deluxe Editions of the base game. A gripping gameplay reveal trailer showcases the Nightfarers’ desperate struggles against these horrors, available on official channels, underscoring FromSoftware’s commitment to evolving Elden Ring’s legacy into ever-darker cooperative nightmares.
