Hollow Knight Silksong Official Release Trailer, Launching Next Month

After years of eager waiting, fans of the critically acclaimed Hollow Knight can finally mark their calendars: Hollow Knight: Silksong, the highly anticipated sequel from Team Cherry, is officially launching on September 4, 2025, across platforms including PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Announced during a special presentation at Gamescom 2025, the release date reveal has sent waves of excitement through the gaming community, putting an end to a six-year journey filled with speculation, memes, and countless dashed hopes at gaming expos.

First announced in 2019, Hollow Knight: Silksong was initially conceived as a DLC for the original Hollow Knight, a 2017 indie masterpiece that blended Metroidvania exploration with Soulslike difficulty and a hauntingly beautiful world. However, the project quickly grew in scope, evolving into a full-fledged sequel that promises to rival or even surpass its predecessor.

In Silksong, players will step into the role of Hornet, the enigmatic princess of Hallownest who served as a supporting character in the first game. Set in the new kingdom of Pharloom, the game introduces a sprawling, hand-crafted world filled with over 200 enemies and more than 40 bosses, ensuring a challenging and immersive experience. The latest trailer showcased Hornet’s graceful combat, new abilities like gliding, and the signature lush, hand-drawn art style that made the original a visual standout.
