Killing Floor 3 is the latest installment in the popular cooperative survival horror first-person shooter (FPS) series developed by Tripwire Interactive. Set in the year 2091, the game takes place 70 years after the events of Killing Floor 2. In this dystopian future, the megacorporation Horzine has created an army of bioengineered monsters known as “Zeds,” which are obedient but terrifying creatures. Players take on the role of a Nightfall specialist, a member of a rebel group fighting to stop Horzine’s monstrous army from wiping out humanity.
The game emphasizes intense, action-packed gameplay with a focus on cooperative play, allowing up to six players to team up in frenzied co-op mode to battle waves of increasingly brutal Zeds. Players can also opt for a challenging single-player mode. The objective is to survive wave after wave of enemies, earn in-game currency (“dosh”), unlock skills, and build a powerful arsenal to combat the Zed threat.

Killing Floor 3 requires a 64-bit operating system and an SSD for both minimum and recommended configurations, though it doesn’t need more than 16 GB of RAM. The game leverages advanced level-loading technologies, justifying its high baseline requirements. Older video cards and hard drives may not ensure stable performance. This marks the third project from the studio to exclusively require an SSD.
Killing Floor 3 is scheduled for release on July 24, 2025, and is available for pre-order on platforms like Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. A closed beta has been conducted, with another planned to refine the game further.
