Micron GDDR7 memory chips will be used in NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards, alongside chips from Samsung and SK hynix. Micron announced in 2024 that it began sampling GDDR7 memory, produced using its 1β process technology, with speeds of 28 Gbps and 32 Gbps. While Samsung initially supplied GDDR7 for the RTX 50 series, NVIDIA has diversified its supply chain by adding Micron and SK hynix to improve availability and potentially reduce production bottlenecks. It’s unclear which specific RTX 50 models will use Micron’s chips, as add-in card partners are still awaiting samples for testing and validation. This move could enhance performance and stabilize pricing due to increased competition among suppliers.
