MSI B850 MPOWER Arrives September 17 with Dual-DIMM Design and DDR5 Memory Alliance

MSI has officially announced the launch of its highly anticipated B850 MPOWER motherboard, marking the return of the iconic MPOWER series to AMD platforms. Set to debut in China on September 17, 2025, the motherboard is priced at 1,599 RMB, with an introductory offer of 1,549 RMB. Pre-sales begin on September 12, 2025, and while the global launch date remains unconfirmed, the announcement has generated significant excitement among PC enthusiasts and overclockers. Alongside the motherboard, MSI introduced the MPOWER D5 Memory Alliance, a partnership with leading memory vendors to optimize DDR5 performance.

The B850 MPOWER is MSI’s first AMD-based MPOWER motherboard, designed specifically for overclockers and enthusiasts using Ryzen 9000, 8000, and 7000 series processors on the AM5 socket. Featuring a micro-ATX form factor, the board combines a sleek black-and-yellow aesthetic with cutting-edge technology tailored for extreme performance. Unveiled at Computex 2025, the B850 MPOWER broke nine overclocking records, including pushing a Ryzen 5 9600X to 7.385 GHz and a Ryzen 7 9700X to 7.294 GHz under liquid nitrogen, showcasing its prowess in extreme overclocking scenarios.

The motherboard’s design prioritizes functionality over flash, omitting RGB lighting to focus on performance. Its 8-layer server-grade PCB with 2oz copper foil enhances strength, heat resistance, signal integrity, and thermal conductivity. The dual-DIMM layout, a hallmark of the MPOWER series, ensures direct CPU-to-memory connections, enabling exceptional memory overclocking capabilities. With Ryzen 9000 CPUs, the board supports DDR5 memory speeds up to 8,400+ MT/s, while Ryzen 8000 CPUs can achieve 10,200+ MT/s. The inclusion of a 64MB BIOS chip and an integrated clock generator further supports precise CPU external frequency adjustments, making it a favorite for overclocking enthusiasts.

A key highlight of the launch is the MPOWER D5 Memory Alliance, a collaboration with 12 prominent memory manufacturers, including G.SKILL, ADATA, Lexar, Asgard, OLOy, Biwin, Gloway, Machenike, Kingbank, Kimtigo, EG, and Uniwhen. This partnership ensures that DDR5 memory modules are specifically tuned for the B850 MPOWER, guaranteeing optimal compatibility and enhanced overclocking headroom. The alliance aims to simplify the process for users seeking high-performance memory kits, providing a curated list of compatible modules to maximize the board’s potential. This initiative underscores MSI’s commitment to delivering a seamless and high-performance experience for overclockers.

The B850 MPOWER is equipped with a robust 12-phase power delivery system, featuring 60A power stages and dual 8-pin CPU connectors to ensure stable power delivery under extreme conditions. The board includes three M.2 slots for high-speed storage, with one slot positioned next to the memory and two others beneath a large passive heatsink to maintain optimal temperatures during heavy workloads. The EZ Dashboard, a separate module with power, reset, clear CMOS, and debug display functions, enhances troubleshooting and overclocking accessibility.

Connectivity is another strong suit, with USB-C 20Gbps, Wi-Fi 7, and 5G Ethernet ensuring ultra-fast data transfers and networking performance. These features make the B850 MPOWER suitable not only for overclocking but also for gaming and content creation workloads. The board supports up to 128GB of DDR5 memory in dual-channel mode, offering flexibility for high-capacity builds.

The MSI B850 MPOWER will officially launch in China on September 17, while the global release schedule has yet to be confirmed.
