No Early Reviews for the GeForce RTX 5060, NVIDIA to Withhold Drivers Until Launch

NVIDIA has reportedly decided not to release drivers for the GeForce RTX 5060 until the GPU officially hits the shelves on May 19, effectively preventing independent reviews from appearing ahead of launch.

This means that if you’re planning to order the RTX 5060 as soon as it’s available, you may be doing so without the benefit of third-party benchmarks a rarity in today’s GPU landscape, where informed buying decisions usually rely on early analysis by trusted reviewers.

According to Igor’s Lab, NVIDIA will release the public driver on May 19 the very same day the GPU is expected to be unveiled at Computex. This timing poses a logistical challenge for many media outlets, as a large portion of the tech press will already be in Taipei covering the event, and are unlikely to return to their labs immediately.

This issue has been further confirmed by Hardware Unboxed, which reportedly already has several RTX 5060 samples but is unable to conduct testing or publish reviews due to the lack of finalized drivers. Without those drivers, proper benchmarking especially of new architectural or memory changes is effectively impossible.

The result? The RTX 5060 may launch with only NVIDIA’s own performance figures available, which are often generous. While NVIDIA claims a 25% uplift in rasterization performance over its predecessor, independent validation is essential especially given how past launches have shown significant variation between official marketing numbers and real-world results.

The GeForce RTX 5060 is set to launch with 8 GB of VRAM, the same as its predecessor. While the card may benefit from architectural improvements and higher efficiency, 8 GB configurations have increasingly struggled to meet the demands of modern AAA titles in 2025.
