Rumors surrounding the long-awaited remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time are gaining traction once again. In a recent episode of the Now Xbox Live podcast, known insider Alex provided an encouraging update, indirectly confirming that the project is still alive and progressing.
Responding to a question from a live viewer concerned about the title’s fate, Alex clarified that the game is not stuck in development hell, despite the prolonged silence since its initial reveal. He claimed to have credible information and hinted that the situation is more stable than fans might expect. Notably, he remarked, “I know some people have more to say about Sands of Time than others,” a comment that sparked heavy speculation in the live chat.
Though Alex remained vague when asked for further clarification, he did concede, “There’s a little bit there,” implying that the project has indeed moved forward behind the scenes.
Ubisoft has previously confirmed that the remake is slated to launch before the end of March 2026. With that in mind, a full reveal could be just around the corner. The coming weeks are packed with major gaming showcases, including Summer Game Fest 2025 and the Xbox Games Showcase, both of which are potential venues for the game’s reintroduction.
Originally announced back in 2020, the remake received considerable criticism for its early visuals, prompting a complete overhaul. The project is now being handled by Ubisoft Montreal the same studio that developed the original Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time back in 2003.
