ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN, the latest ultra-violent science-fiction action adventure game from Grasshopper Manufacture—directed by Goichi “Suda51” Suda in collaboration with Ren Yamazaki—has been officially confirmed for release on February 11, 2026, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. Self-published by the studio, this marks Grasshopper’s first brand-new IP in years, built on decades of experience, and it has already gone gold, meaning development is complete and it’s ready for manufacturing. The announcement came via the “Release Date Trailer” and a special “Grasshopper Direct: 5 Minutes feat. ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN” broadcast on December 4, 2025, following an earlier leak spotted on the PlayStation app.
Players take control of protagonist Romeo Stargazer, an FBI Space-Time special agent who, after space-time itself shatters due to a mysterious incident, survives a near-death experience by donning the cybernetic “DeadGear” mask, transforming him into the liminal “DeadMan” entity stuck between life and death. As he hunts down multiverse-spanning criminals exploiting the chaos, Romeo also investigates the disappearance of his girlfriend, Juliet Dendrobium, uncovering links between her vanishing and the space-time destruction. The third-person single-player experience unfolds across chapters blending an unpredictable narrative, intense battles, and optional side missions, with gameplay emphasizing “bloody action”: Romeo fluidly switches between swords and guns to slaughter enemy waves, absorbs their blood to fuel the devastating special attack “Bloody Summer,” and upgrades his arsenal as he faces tougher foes.
Suda51 hyped the reveal on X, declaring, “Romeo Is A Dead Man drops on Feb. 11th 2026! Price: $49.99! We MAY even do a launch sale… And the publisher? Grasshopper Manufacture! We’re gonna self-publish! PUNX NOT DEAD,” alongside the studio’s official game account launch. The game features full English audio and subtitles, with subtitles in French, German, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, and seven others; it carries a mature rating for frequent violence, gore, nudity/sexual content, and general mature themes. PC system requirements list a minimum of Intel Core i5-8400, 16 GB RAM, GTX 1060, and 60 GB storage (recommended: Ryzen 5 3600X or i5-10600K, RTX 2060 Super or RX 6600), with full controller support including DualSense/DualShock (USB) and Xbox pads; Steam Deck compatibility is unknown. Trailers include the June 2025 announcement showcasing the game’s punk aesthetic and violence, plus the new release date footage highlighting gameplay and 3D cutscenes featuring characters like Luna Stargazer. Wishlist it now on Steam or PS Store for updates.
